Lady E-Hawks Finish Fifth At Tomahawk Relays

CHEROKEE?- Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks earned a fifth place team finish in Class 1A at the 2014 Tomahawk Relays in Cherokee Friday night. Pacing the way for the Lady E-Hawks were second place finishes in both the Shuttle Hurdle Relay and Sprint Medley Relays.

The quartet of Helena Fantz, Bailey Naig, Alexa Naig and Hadley Egland turned in a time of 1:14.11 for the runner-up finish and in the Sprint Medley, the foursome of Hadley Egland, Mikki Mundus, Alexa Naig and Bailey Naig finished second with a 2:05.88 effort.

Also earning a second place finish for Emmetsburg was senior Tegan Olson, as she finished the shot put with a final throw of 33'3". Teammate Natalie Ruiz would finish seventh in the shot with a best throw of 30'7.5".

In the discus competition, Olson would also take second place, as she came away with a throw of 95'10". Teammate Kayla Joyce finished third in the discus, throwing the platter 95'5".

Senior Rachel Ruddy would finish third in the long jump, as she came away with a leap of 14'3/4" and teammate Shelby Loomis finished fifth with her leap of 13'8".

Hadley Egland collected third place honors in the 100 meter hurdle event, as she finished with a time of :18.07.

Taylor Reimer earned a fourth place finish in the 800 meter run, as she finished with a 2:445.74 locking, while Madeleine Mueller would finish ninth with a time of 3:08.54.

Tara Harris would finish fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 13:14.51, with teammate Cierra McAllister finishing sixth in a time of 13:17.41. Harris would then earn a fifth place finish in the 1500 meter run with her time of 5:56.43.

Emmetsburg's 4x800 relay squad, comprised of Kate Jackson, Madeleine Mueller, Taylor Reimer and Jordan Hoyman, would earn a fourth place finish with their 11:32.06 clocking. The Lady E-Hawks' 4x100 relay, made up of Helena Fantz, Sarah Simington, Hadley Egland and Mikki Mundus were clocked at :56.22 to finish in the fifth place of the event, and the 4x200 relay, with Alexa Naig, Shelby Loomis, Bailey Naig and Mikki Mundus, turned in a 1:57.92 time to also finish fifth.

Mikki Mundus earned a sixth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of :29.35, while Jordan Hoyman finished seventh in the 400 hurdles with her time of 1:20.03. Cierra McAllister finished with a 1:21.99 in the 400 meter hurdles to finish eighth for the Lady E-Hawks.

The Distance Medley Relay group of Alexa Naig, Bailey Naig, Helena Fantz and Caroline Fantz finished seventh with their time of 5:07.45 to close out the relay finishes for Emmetsburg.

Shelby Loomis would finish 12th in the 200 meter dash with a :31.00 time and in the 100 meter dash, Kiersten Duhn was 12th with a :15.15 clocking and Sarah Simington finished 14th in :15.28.

The Lady E-Hawks are off untill Tuesday, April 22, when they will compete in Pocahontas at the Pocahontas Relays. Action is scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
