Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks continue to look for their first win in Lakes Conference play after a 7-3 loss to Western Christian on Monday night. The Lady E-Hawks dropped to 0-2 in the Lakes and moved to 4-2 overall after Monday's contest.
Western Christian would get a baserunner off an error in the first inning, and a second runner off a fielders' choice, but one runner would be stranded, Emmetsburg would also leave a runner stranded after a walk in their half of the opening inning.
The Wolfpack would break the game open in the top of the second, as they sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring six runs off a pair of doubles, a pair of singles and a pair of walks before stranding one runner.

Emmetsburg took a breath and came out swinging in the bottom of the second. Ashton Connelly would get on off a throwing error and Bailee Garrelts would pound a double into right field with one out. A two-RBI single from Sarah Simington got the Lady E-Hawks on the scoreboard before the second out was collected. A walk for Jenna Chapman would put Simington in scoring position, but the two Lady E-Hawks were stranded on a put out of Alexa Naig to end the inning.
Western Christian got a leadoff single in the top of the third, but a pair of strikeouts issued by Ashton Connelly and a put out ended the at-bat. Emmetsburg would get a lone single from Connelly in their half of the third, but left courtesy runner Bailey Naig waiting at first when the inning ended.
The two teams traded outs in the fourth inning and in the top of the fifth, Western Christian would load the bases off a single, a throwing error and a walk, but Ashton Connelly would get three strikeouts to end the threat.
A leadoff strikeout was followed by a base hit by Alexa Naig, and after a put out of Tegan Olson, Michaela Rehm slapped out a base hit, but the two Lady E-Hawks were stranded when the inning ended.
Western Christian would get a base hit in the top of the sixth, but left a runner waiting on a fielders' choice. Emmetsburg was running out of opportunities as they came up in the bottom of the sixth inning. A fly out opened the at-bat, but Bailee Garrelts got her second hit of the game. Courtesy runner Natalie Kliegl would advance to third off two passed balls. Sara Simington and Hali Noll would both draw walks before Jenna Chapman issued a sacrifice bunt to score Kliegl. But Emmetsburg would leave two runers in scoring position to end the opportunity.
The Wolfpack would come up with an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning, off an error and a fielders' choice before the at-bat ended. Emmetsburg would quickly go down two outs before Ashton Connelly got her second hit of the game, but the hit was for naught as the game ended on a putout.
Ashton Connelly would get the loss, giving up seven runs, five earned, off seven hits with four walks and 13 strikeouts.
Emmetsburg got a double and single from Bailee Garrelts and two hits from Connelly, while Alexa Naig, Sara Simington and Michaela Rehm had hits.
