E-Hawks Blank Western Christian

A strong performance on the mound propelled Emmetsburg to a 1-0 shutout victory over Western Christian of Hull Monday night. The win improves Emmetsburg to 1-2 in the Lakes.

Coming off a tough loss to LeMars on the previous Friday, the E-Hawks opened a busy week with a defensive gem at home Monday. The visiting Wolfpack would go down in order to start the game, while the E-Hawks stranded Greg Wesley in the first.

The Wolfpack would get a runner to third in the second by stranded him, while the E-Hawks would go down in order themselves. A stranded runner was the end result of Western Christian's third inning, while the E-Hawks would leave Max Dunlap and Dillon VanOosbree waiting when the inning ended.

With VanOosbree pitching a gem for Emmetsburg, Western Christian was retired in order in the top of the fourth.The E-Hawks came up and went down a quick out before Zach Anderson, Jake Kibbie and Aaron Bird all singled.

Nick Chapman would fly out but an error would put Max Dunlap on base as Anderson scored what would be the game's only run before the E-Hawks were retired.

The Wolfpack would get two runners in the top of the fifth but left them on the bags. However, Emmetsburg would go down in order in their half of the inning, still holding a 1-0 lead.

A solitary runner got on in the sixth for Western Christian but they couldn't bring him home. But once again, Emmetsburg went down in order.

For the final at-bat, Western Christian would get a runner, but went down in order to end the game in the 1-0 win for Emmetsburg.

Dillon VanOosbree got the win as he went the distance, as he gave up four hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. The E-Hawks got his from Dillon VanOosbree, Greg Wesley, Zach Anderson, Jake Kibbie and Aaron Bird in the win.
