Hunter Education Field Day Set

An Iowa Hunter Safety Education Class will be offered later this month in Palo Alto County.

The Hunter Education Field Day has been set for Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Lost Island Nature Center, north of Ruthven. The hunter education class will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and all students will need to bring a sack lunch with them to the event.

Roger and Alan Will are serving as the instructors for this class, which is required for all youths 12 years of age or older in order to obtain an Iowa hunting license.

Students must pre-register for the class online at; to sign up for the class. Students must search for the class titled: Will8/23/2014.

No firearms are to be brought to the class by students.

The class discusses firearm handling and safety along with a basic knowledge of hunting regulations.
