"We are excited to add these three young men to our roster and get them in the room to start working," commented Iowa Lakes Head Coach Cody Alesch.

Schany will be transferring to Iowa Lakes from Iowa Western in Council Bluffs where he competed in football last year. He was a two-time state qualifier for Coach Jared Pickett and the Emmetsburg E-Hawks, earning second place as a senior. Nick will be joining the Lakers to wrestle at 174 pounds this season.

"These three individuals are going to bring more to our room then just their wrestling abilities," added Alesch. "They are great young men who exemplify good character and strong leadership in all they do. Our staff will ask these three to step up in other roles that typically freshman may not be asked to serve, but we know they are capable of producing; they are just those type of student athletes."

Along with Schany, Blake Gjerde was a two-time state qualifier and team captain for Coach Dan Hewitt and the Midgets of Estherville Lincoln Central.

Austin Long was also a two-time state qualifier along with being a captain for three years as a member of the Algona Bulldogs.

For the 2014-15 wrestling season, Gjerde and Long are projected to wrestle at 157 pounds for the Lakers.
