Titans Down Lady Wolverines In Tourney Opener

WEST?BEND - The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruth-ven-Ayrshire earned a 57-25 win over West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate in Class 1A Regional Tournament play Thursday night. The win advances the Titans to a game tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 14) against Bishop Garrigan at Algona.

The Titan girls would take an early advantage in the contest, working their way out at a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter of play.

In the second quarter, The Titans put the defensive clamps on the Lady Wolverines for a 35-14 advantage at the intermission.

WBM/GCB would struggle to find the bucket in the third quarter, as they would score just five points while GT/RA took a 54-19 lead into the final stanza of play.

Down the stretch, WBM/GCB outscored the Titans 6-3 in the final quarter but it was too little too late as GT/RA took the 57-25 win.

For GT/RA, Kylea Fehr led the offense with 11 points on the night. Toni Alesch followed with 10 points, while Emma Heinrichs scored nine points. Anna Sorenson and Maddy Hough both would score seven points each for the Titans, while Chloe Bakken added six points. Maddie Norris scored five points and Taylor Park added two points to the final tally.

For the Lady Wolverines, Taylor Fogarty would pace the effort with 14 points on the night. Trissa Schmidt would score three points, as did Autumn Mogler and Laura Fehr, while Madison Wickman came off the bench to add two points to the fina score.

West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate closes out the season with a mark of 1-19 on the season.

Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven- Ayrshire moves on to the next round of play with a record of 15-6.
