COON RAPIDS, MN -- On Feb. 7, 1933 in Pocahontas, IA, Hans and Mary (Ernst) Madsen announced the birth of their first child, Ronald Chris. Ron graduated high school and proudly served in the Korean War. He drove trucks and was honorably discharged on April 21, 1955.
Ron and Edna married at East Chain Lutheran Church on May 25, 1956. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Mark in 1958, Keith in 1960, Kent in 1964 and Lynnea in 1970.
Ron and Edna farmed until 1978, and then followed their dream by purchasing and running a fishing resort in Nestor Falls, Ontario, Canada. They retired in the early '90s and bought their dream home close by on Crow Lake.
As a dedicated, caring and thankful husband, father, and grandfather, Ron was received into heaven on his 84th birthday, Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Ron will always be loved and deeply missed by his wife Edna; sons Mark, Keith (Donna), Kent (Michele) and daughter Lynnea all of the Twin Cities area; granddaughters, Sebrinia (Ryan) Welch of Denver, CO, Ashley Madsen also of Denver, Kayla (Erik) Collins of Phoenix, AZ, Alexandra and Kira Madsen of the Twin Cities.
Ron will also be loved and missed by his siblings, Richard of Emmetsburg, Betty Baker of Ft. Wayne, IN, Aunt Evelyn Ernst of Pocahontas, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol and his sister-in-law Pat.
Funeral services for Ronald Madsen were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Coon Rapids, MN.
