by Dan Voigt , Emmetsburg News

SHELDON - The post season started and ended Monday night for Emmetsburg's E-Hawks in a 74-32 loss to Unity Christian of Orange City. The Class 2A District tournament game in Sheldon saw the E-Hawks' season end with a mark of 9-12.

Monday's contest started out quickly for the Knights of Unity Christian, as they were able to use a stifling defense on the E-Hawks to jump out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter of play. The E-Hawks would get their offense working in the second quarter, as they were able to score 14 points against the Knights, but on the other end of the floor, Emmetsburg struggled to contain Unity, as they added 22 points to their total for a 42-21 lead at the half time break.

Emmetsburg would struggle offensively in the third quarter, scoring just six points, while Unity Christian added 16 points to their lead to enjoy a 58-27 advantage going into the final quarter. The deficit would flirt with 30 points most of the final quarter until Unity went ahead by 35 points with 3:19 to go. The reserves would finish out the contest as the E-Hawks ended their campaign with the 74-32 loss.
