Trio Earn Lakes Conferece Post Season Honors

A trio of Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawks earned post-season honors for their play during the 2016-2017 basketball season with inclusion on the Lakes Conference All Conference Teams. Honors were according following voting of the conference coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.

For Coach Anne Fiene's Lady E-Hawks, senior Bailey Naig was a Second Team All Lakes Conference selection, while Senior Kayla Joyce was accorded Honorable Mention status, along with freshman Gretchen Hofstad.

Bailey Naig, a Second Team honoree, was the Lady E-Hawks' leading scorer during the season, scoring a total of 268 points. Naig connected on 88 of 244 two-oint field goals for 36.1 percent accuracy and nine of 43 three-point field goal attempts for 20.9 percent shooting. At the free throw line, Naig made 83 of 143 shots, 58 percent accuracy, to average 11.7 points per contest in 23 games. Bailey would dish out 47 assists, while making 30 steals and blocking four shots. On the boards, Naig grabbed 40 offensive rebounds and 96 defensive boards for a total of 136, an average of 5.9 rebounds per game.

Senior - Second Team Selection

Kayla Joyce would receive Honorable Mention recognition for her play, as the senior scored 114 total points during the season. Joyce made 48 of 138 two-point field goals for 34.8 percent accuracy and connected on 18 of 33 free throw attempts for 54.5 percent accuracy in 23 games for Emmetsburg . Kayla added 29 assists, while making 30 steals and blocked four shots, but led Emmetsburg in rebounding with 143 on the season, 58 offensive boards and 85 defensive rebounds for an average of 6.2 carroms per game.

Freshman Gretchen Hofstad also earned Honorable Mention recognition for Coach Fiene as she saw action in 23 games during the season and scored 111 points, an average of 4.8 points per game. Hofstad connected on 40 of 136 two-point field goals for 29.4 percent shooting and made 26 of 92 three-point field goal shots for 28.3 accuracy, while making five of her eight shots at the charity stripe for 62.5 percent accuracy. Gretchen handed out 47 assists to her teammates and grabbed 18 steals during the year, while collecting four offensive rebounds and 46 defensive rebounds for a total of 50 total rebounds, an average of 2.2 boards per game.
