E-Hawk Trio Earn Conference Post-Season Honors

A trio of Emmetsburg E-Hawks were accorded post-season honors on the 2017 Lakes Conference All Conference teams. The honors were announced following balloting by the league coaches at the end of the 2016-17 season.

E-Hawk Seniors Thomas Schultes and Dalton Connelly, along with junior Blake VerMulm earned recognition for their play on Coach Bill Geelan's squad this season.

Leading Emmetsburg's picks was senior Thomas Schultes, who was a unanimous selection to the Second Team All Conference squad. Schultes led the E-Hawks with 275 points, hitting 89 of 229 shots from two-point range for 38.9 percent accuracy and 36 of 108 three-point attempts for 33.3 percent, while making 61 of 92 free throws for 66.3 percent shooting to average 13.1 points per game. Thomas would dish out 93 assists to his teammates in 21 games, made 21 steals and blocked five shots, while collecting 17 offensive rebounds and 78 defensive boards for a total of 95, an average of 4.5 per contest.

Second Team

Dalton Connelly was accorded Honorable Mention recognition for his play during the season, as the Senior tallied 234 points in 21 games, an average of 11.1 markers per game. Connelly made 76 of 208 attempts from inside the arc for 36.5 percent shooting, and sank 57 of 158 from three-point range, including six-three-point shots in one game, for 36.1 percent accuracy. At the charity stripe, Dalton connected on 25 of 35 shots for 71.4 percent. Dalton would hand out 25 assists and made 13 steals with a blocked shot, as well as grabbing 31 defensive rebounds a 10 offensive for a total of 41 boards, an average of two rebounds per game.

Blake VerMulm also received Honorable Mention recognition, as the junior scored 203 points, an average of 9.7 per game, with 86 of 176 from two-point range and 31 of 69 at the line for 44.9 percent accuracy. Blake dished out 19 assists and made 18 steals, while blocking 33 shots, as well as coming away with 55 offensive boards and 71 defensive rebounds for 126 total, an average of six per game.
