Emmetsburg News

Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) employees celebrated with Joan Goodlaxson at a retirement coffee celebrating her retirement after 29 years of service. Joan originally began working at PACHS as an LPN on the medical/surgical patient floor at PACHS. She then went back to school, earning her Registered Nursing degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. She has worked as a nurse on PARC Hall for the past 29 years.

"I am retiring to start a new adventure that was always a dream of mine", commented Joan. "I have a granddaughter in Spencer that now can have any of my time she wants!! During retirement, I plan to visit family and enjoy more camping and bike riding.

Missy Studer, Director of Aging Services at PACHS, commented, "Joan was a wealth of knowledge for me when I began working. She has always been a strong patient advocate and always treated the residents as her family. She will be missed."
