West Bend Youth Dies Following Rollover Accident

WEST BEND A single vehicle accident Wednesday night, April 5, claimed the life of a West Bend teenager. According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, 17-year old Hunter Origer died of injuries sustained in the mishap in the northwestern portion of the county.

The initial accident report from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred around 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, on Humboldt County Road P19, one-half mile south of Iowa Highway 15.

An investigation revealed that 17-year old Hunter Origer was driving northbound on P19 and came upon a curve in the roadway, at which time the vehicle left the roadway and rolled into the east ditch before coming to rest.

Origer was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover and was discovered in the ditch by a local resident who happened on the accident scene.

Emergency responders from the West Bend Fire Department and West Bend Ambulance, were called, along with Gilmore City Ambulance, Algona EMS, the Iowa State Patrol and Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.

Origer was transported by ambulance to Kossuth Regional Medical Center in Algona where he later died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the accident
