Linda M. Laws 1946-2017

Funeral service for Linda M. Laws of Emmetsburg was held Monday, May 8, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Pastor Peter Morlock and Pastor Mark Lee officiated.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Linda Mae (Kinnetz) Laws, daughter of Richard and Rosella (Stigman) Kinnetz, was born June 8, 1946 in Emmetsburg. She received her education in the Emmetsburg school system.

On Dec. 23, 1966, Linda was united in marriage to Ronald E. Laws at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. To this union two children were born. Ron and Linda made their home in Emmetsburg where Linda was employed at several businesses in the area including Berkley's, Casey's, S.N.C., and various restaurants in town where she enjoyed serving and visiting with customers.

Linda was a life long member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg and participated in Scandinavian days and other activities. She participated in several Relay for Life events and volunteered as a driver for Palo Alto County Hospital.

One of Linda's favorite activities was playing Bingo. She would play in Emmetsburg and would also travel to meet friends for Bingo in other communities. Linda was also an avid bowler in her younger years playing in several leagues in Emmetsburg and traveling to tournaments with Ron and their bowling friends. She also enjoyed fishing trips at her sister's cabin at Leach Lake with friends and family and also occasional weekend getaways with her sisters.

Linda was very proud of her grandchildren and would travel to attend their many sporting events and other activities. She treasured the time that she spent with each of them.

Linda passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at her home in Emmetsburg after a bout with Cancer at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Rosella Kinnetz; her husband, Ron Laws; and a brother, Benjamin Kinnetz.

She is survived by her children, Tracy Laws and his wife, Ann of Gilbert, and Kelly Lee and her husband, Mark of Elkader; five grandchildren, Molly Laws, Matt Laws, Christian Lee and his fiancee, Jenny, Katelyn Lee and Ethan Lee; four sisters, Barbara Grafe of Austin, MN, Billie Fett of Chandler, AZ, Elaine Swanson of Ayrshire, and Mary (Roger) Douglass of Fort Dodge; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
