E-Hawks Qualify Lone Golfer For 2A District Play

Following Thursday’s Sectional Tourney

ARNOLDS?PARK - The 2017 golf season came to a close Thursday afternoon for the Emmetsburg E-Hawk boys golf team at the Class 2A Sectional Golf Tournament at Emerald Hills Golf Course. Emmetsburg would end up finishing fifth overall in the eight-team field at the Sectional. However, one member of the E-Hawk team will advance to the Individual play portion of this Friday's Class 2A District Tournament, which will be played at the Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City.

E-Hawk sophomore Calvin Hart would finish his 18-hole round with scores of 39 and 43 to tally an 82, which tied hit with Ryan Fedders of Unity Christian for second place in the individual standings.

Sheldon would win the Sectional title with a team total 337, while Unity Christian took second place with a team total of 353. Estherville Lincoln Central place third with a 356, while South Central Calhoun placed fourth with a 357 and Emmetsburg was fifth with a 359 total. Placing sixth was Okoboji with a 367, while Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon was seventh with a 380 and Manson Northwest Webster placed eighth with a 475 stroke total.

For Emmetsburg, Calvin Hart's rounds of 39 and 43 added up to an 82 to pace the E-Hawk effort. Hunter McAllister carded rounds of 41 and 46 for an 87 stroke total, while Gerard Ruiz carded a pair of 45's to tally a 90. Matt Kibbie would shoot a 52 and a 48 for a 100 stroke total, while Jace Carlson tallied rounds of 52 and 49 for a 101 and Isaac Embrock would turn in rounds of 56 and 51 to tally a 107.

Tyler Merly of Sheldon would earn the Individual Medalist honor with his round of 77, while Hart and Ryan Fedders of Unity tied for the runner-up honors with their rounds of 82.

Hart will advance to play this Friday, May 19, in the District meet at the Landsmeer Golf Course at Orange City for the Individual portion of the tournament.
