Emmetsburg Schools To Utilize Online Registration For Upcoming School Year

August 3, 2017
by Dan Voigt , Emmetsburg News

With the start of the 2017-18 school year just three weeks away, officials of the Emmetsburg Community School District are offering patrons an option for enrollment and registration.

With the busy lifestyles of many families, the district is transitioning to a blended registration process for the 2017-18 school year, according to Middle School Principal and K-12 Curriculum Director Tracie Christensen.

The blended process will require parents of students who will be attending Emmetsburg schools to go online to complete and verify information on their children, as well as electronically signing necessary documents as part of the registration process. Additionally, parents and guardians will also be able to handle the payment of school fees online at any time prior to the August 11 registration deadline. Otherwise, fees can also be paid in person at the respective school offices on either Thursday, August 10, or Friday, August 11.

"In order to start this verification process, parents should log into their JMC Parent Account and follow the online directions to walk through this process," explained Christensen. "If you do not have a JMC Parent access, please contact the school office where your child will be attending to get this information or have it reset. Computers will be available in all buildings to help parents with this process if you do not have access at home. "

All school offices at West Elementary, the Middle School and High School will be open on August 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and August 11th from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Parents can go to any building office to complete this registration process for all students.

Part of the new program will be Online invoices or student fees, which will be sent to all parents. Christensen notes that parents of Middle School and High Schools students should review the activities their children are signed up to participate in.

"We uploaded these invoices based on registrations students did last Spring," Christensen explained. "If your student is planning to participate in an activity not listed, please contact the office to get it added. Likewise, if an activity is on the invoice and your student is not planning to participate, let us know and we will delete that activity."

Christensen also pointed out that fees on invoices were determined based on Free/Reduced Status from the end of the 2016-17 School Year. Parent who feel this status has or may change should get the application completed and submitted to the school as soon as possible. Everyone must complete a new application form to be eligible for the 2017-18 School Year by September 15th. These can be printed from the School's Webpage, completed and dropped off in the Superintendent's Office. Anyone needing assistance to complete a Free/Reduced Status application can contact Deb Goeders, Food Service Director, to complete these forms. Goeders will be available August 10th and 11th to assist with this process.

As part of the online registration process, the Emmetsburg Community Schools will be offering a new online payment system called PaySchools Central. Registration fees and lunch accounts can be paid through this system. This can be done by accessing or by downloading their mobile app. The link to this site will also be available on the school webpage.

Patrons can visit this site and click on the PaySchools Central button to visit the portal, where they will create an account. Creating a PaySchools Central account is easy, quick and free! More information will be shared with parents regarding this new system and setting up account.

As with any online payment system, there are fees charged by PaySchools that are assessed to parents using the system.

"If you are able to complete the registration online and pay fees, there is no need to stop in the office on August 10th or 11th,"?Christensen said. "We are hoping to make this process easier for parents. If you have any questions regarding this process, don't hesitate to contact me or stop in any office on August 10th or 11th."
