Funeral Services Arvin Sidles will be at 10 a.m. Wed. August 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg with Rev. Hojin Shin officiating. Interment will be at Eastside Memorial Cemetery in Estherville. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Arvin Loren Sidles was born June 29, 1944, on a farm near Estherville, to James "Dick" and Gladys (Harris) Sidles. As a young boy, Arvin lived on a farm by Hunnington. His family then moved to Emmetsburg where Arvin began breaking horses at the age of 8 for Kerm Reeves.

When Arvin was 14 he began working for Rouse Wrecking and was also employed at Stork Chevy, Benson Chevy, and Ken Krause Motors.

Cliff Woodbeck and Arvin operated Cliff and Arvin's DX on east main and then went to work for McCain Cadillac.

On August 31, 1963 Arvin was united in marriage to Lorraine Kay Fisher. To this union three sons were born.

Arvin started Arvin's Repair which he owned and operated until 1979 when he went to work for Palo Alto County. He continued at this job until his retirement.

Arvin was very involved in racing which he began in 1967. This year he celebrated his 50th year of racing. He was inducted into the Jackson and Kossuth County Hall of Fames.

Arvin passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; a brother, Donald Sidles; sister-in-law, Alice Sidles; a grandson, Ryan Sidles; great granddaughter, Kilee Lynn Krug; nephews, Jeff Claughbaugh and Reggie Sidles; sister-in-law, Gloria Claughbaugh, brothers-in-law, Leroy Claughbaugh and Joe Naig; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Geraldine and Donald Fisher.

He is survived by his sons and their wives, Tim and Connie Sidles of Emmetsburg, Todd and Penny of Emmetsburg, and Greg and Lindsy of Fairmont, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his fiance, Linda Hughes; sister, Darlene Naig of Emmetsburg; brother, Terry "Pete" and Roxanne Sidles of Spirit Lake; many nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
