A Celebration of Life for Gladys Clipperton was held on Monday,? August 14, 2017 at Good Samaritan Chapel in Estherville. Chaplin Fred Dykhuizen officiated. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger. Henry-Olson Funeral?Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Irene Clipperton the daughter of Charles and Effie (Armstrong) Tubbs was born January 9, 1929 in Calhoun County. She died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 88.

Gladys attended Lake City High School, graduating in 1947.

On May 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Merle E. Clipperton in Lake City. Gladys taught school and worked for Dr. Rients for a short time before she became Secretary at Graettinger Community School for 29 years. For hobbies, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery, traveling, fishing, dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Her husband, Merle died in 1995. While a resident of Good Samaritan Society Gladys loved looking out her window and watching the birds.

She was an active member of United Methodist Church in Graettinger serving as Secretary, Treasurer, teaching Sunday School and Church Circles. She was also a member of the BABES Program, Women's Club, Senior Citizens and Friends of Library Club.

Left to cherish Gladys' memory are her son, Richard (Lila) Clipperton of Coralville; Linda (Myron) Bosworth of Mankato, Minnesota; son-in-law, Kevin Stiles of Manson; six grandchildren; Sean, James, Kevin, Jennifer, Charity and Erica; 12 great grandchildren, Chelsea, Sydney, Mariah, Antonio, Dylan, Madison, Niccolas, Allie, Owen, Hailey, Kendra, and Kjeirsten and nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Patricia Stiles; three sisters, Ruth Taylor, Sandra Jannsen and Betty Baker.
