Titans Win Big Over Northwood-Kensett, 34-6

GRAETTINGER?- The home opener for the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Titans was successful Friday night with a 34-6 victory over Northwood-Kensett. The win improves the Titans to 2-0 on the season as they face a major district test this Friday night on the road at Newell-Fonda.

The Titans would score early in the contest, using a 13-yard pass from Jacob Conlon to Tommy Geelan with 9:11 to go in the first quarter. The conversion failed, making the score 6-0.

GT/RA would add another score just before the end of the quarter as Conlon would keep the ball and dive in from a yard out with :23 to play in the quarter. Conlon would run in the conversion to put the Titans up 14-0 to start the second quarter.

In the second frame, the Titans would add another touchdown at the 4:30 mark when Jacob Conlon kept the football and raced 34 yards for the score and then added the conversion run for a 22-0 advantage at the intermission.

The second half would see Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire continue to control the contest, as they would score quickly after the start of the half. Jacob Conlon passed to Chris Conlon for a four-yard touchdown with 9:51 to go in the quarter, but the two-point conversion was stopped for a 28-0 Titan lead.

After a punt by Northwood-Kensett, GT/RA got the ball back and quickly capitalized on the possession, capping it off with a quick 10-yard strike from Jacob Conlon to Chris Conlon with 6:05 to play in the third quarter. The conversion try for two points failed, making the score 34-0, which would hold through the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter, the reserves took over the contest and almost pitched the shutout, but Northwood-Kensett would score off a nine-yard pass with just :45 to go in the contest to avoid the shutout for the 34-6 final score.

The Titans would get 185 yards rushing off 14 carries by Jacob Conlon and 45 yards off 15 rushes by Kolton Roth. Treyton Cacek made two carries for 24 yards, while Brock Grimm added four rushes for 18 yards and Chris Conlon carried the ball once for two yards.

Jacob Conlon completed 12 of 17 passes for 104 yards, with Tommy Geelan making three catches for 44 yards and Chris Conlon making four receptions for 21 yards. Kolton Roth added three catches for 21 yards and Jace Naig had two receptions for 18 yards.

Defensively, Chris Conlon made six and a half tackles while Jacob Conlon made six tackles. Treyton Cacek made five and a half tackles.
