Wolverines Roll In 54-8 Win Over North Iowa

WEST?BEND - The West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate Wolverines picked up a great home-opening win Friday with a 54-8 romp over the Bison of North Iowa. The win improves the Wolverines to 2-0 on the season as they prepare to start district play this Friday night hosting Kingsley-Pierson for Senior Night in West Bend.

The game was all West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate's as they Wolverines were able to score in every quarter of the contest. The Wolverine offense would produce almost 400 yards on the ground and in the air during the contest.

Coleman Grimm would have a big night rushing as he carried the ball 10 times to gain 147 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns. Lincoln Fehr tallied three touchdowns, including a 45-yard run and gained 94 yards off a dozen rushing attempts.

Hunter Jergens scored a touchdown off a punt return and gained 50 yards on one carry in the contest. Thad Fogarty rushed 12 times to gain 45 yards, while Trinton Schmidt added six yards off one carry and Creytan Grimm ran the ball once to gain four yards.

Lincoln Fehr would complete three out of 10 passing attempts on the night to gain 55 yards for the Wolverines. Trinton Schmidt made one catch for 30 yards, while Cole Hoskins had a 15 yard reception and Brandon Fehr added a catch for 10 yards.

The Wolverine defense had a strong outing in holding the Bison to just eight points in the contest. Braden Fehr would lead the defense with 11.5 tackles, while Coleman Grimm added eight stops. Mason Studer made seven and a half tackles and Hunter Jergens made seven tackles while Thad Fogarty chipped in six stops.

Trinton Schmidt intercepted a pass for a 35-yard return and Danie Riesenberg tallied a quarterback sack for the Wolverines.
