Lady E-Hawks Battle Hard While GT/RA Titans Win ELC Tournament

ESTHERVILLE?- Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks and the Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire both played in the ELC?Tournament last Saturday, Sept. 30. For Emmetsburg, the outcome of the day was a 2-3 finish, while the Titans finished 4-1 to win the tourney title, even though their only loss on the day was to Emmetsburg.

The Lady E-Hawks opened their tourney appearance meeting Okoboji, but fell by scores of 13-21 and 16-21. In the contest, Molly Schany had 12 attacks and five kills, with one blocked shot, while Parker Traub added 10 attacks and four kills, with five digs and seven assists, as well as four of five serves.

Next up for the Lady E-Hawks was a meeting with the Wolves of Harris-Lake Park, who earned a 2-0 win by game scores of 23-21 and 21-7 over Emmetsburg.

The Lady E-Hawks played better in the second match, as Parker Traub had 15 attacks and five kills with nine assists, one dig, two blocks and three of four serves. Molly Schany added 14 attacks with six kills and Lindsay Carter had three digs with eight of nine serves and an ace, while Abbie Schany added tow attacks, two kills, and two assists with five digs.

Emmetsburg would then face Sioux City West, and picked up a 2-1 win, with game scores of 21-11, 14-21 and 15-5.

Molly Schany would make 21 attacks in the match with eight kills, while Parker Traub added eight attacks and two kills with eight assists, five digs and eight of nine serves and two aces. Gretchen Hofstad added four attacks with three kills, one dig, a block and six of seven serves, while

Meeting up with Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, the Lady E-Hawks would come away with a sweep, downing the Titans by scores of 21-10 and 12-13.

Molly Schany would make 18 attacks with six kills, and added a block to the effort, while Parker Traub came away with 15 attacks and five kills, as well as a block, two digs, six assists and six of seven serves. Gretchen Hofstad made seven attacks with two kills, three assists, six digs and a block, as well as three of four serves and Morgan Jamison made seven attacks with four kills, a dig and four of four serves with two aces.

Emma Anderson added five attacks with two kills and two digs, as well as a block and Abbie Schany made five attacks with one assist and three digs and a block.

Brielle Madden added six of six serves with an ace and Lindsay Carter dug out nine shots with an assist and added seven of seven serves with an ace while Macy McAllister made eight assists, two digs and 13 of 13 serves.

For the final game of the tourney, Emmetsburg would fall to Estherville Lincoln Central by scores of 11-21, 21-19 and 9-15.

Molly Schany would have 17 attacks with five kills and Parker Traub also made 17 attacks with four kills, along with five assists, five digs, one blocked shot and five of five serves.

Morgan Jamison added 12 attacks with two kills and two digs, as well as seven of 10 serves and an ace.

Emma Anderson came away with 10 attacks and three kills, an assist and two blocks.

The Lady E-Hawks moved to 7-16 overall on the season after the tournament.


The Titans would improve their season mark to 10-11 after their appearance on Saturday, losing their only match to the Lady E-Hawks after several exciting matches during the morning.

The Titans would start the day out defeating Sioux City West 2-1, by game scores of 21-15, 19-21 and 15-5.

Toni Alesch led the effort with 18 attacks and five kills, along with four digs, two blocks and seven of eight serves. Emma Heinrichs added 16 attacks with three kills, five digs, a block and two of four serves with two aces, while Kylea Fehr made 10 attacks and five kills, as well as 10 digs and 18 of 18 serves with three aces.

Taylor Park would add 15 digs and seven of eight serves and Madison Norris came away with 21 assists, two digs, five attacks and two kills and 10 of 11 serves.

The Titans then took a 2-1 win over Estherville Lincoln Central by game scores of 11-21, 21-14 and 16-14.

Emma Heinrichs made 19 attacks with four kills, 15 digs, a blocked shot and four of four serves. Toni Alesch added 16 attacks with seven kills, six digs, two blocks and five of six serves and Kylea Fehr added 16 attacks with four kills, seven digs and six of six serves with an ace.

Madison Hough added 13 attacks with two kills, one dig and three blocks and Madison Norris added six attacks with one kill, 20 assists, four digs and eight of nine serves.

In their third game, GT/RA defeated Okoboji 2-1 by scores of 21-17, 26-28 and 15-5.

Toni Alesch made 19 attacks with nine kills, three digs and six of six serves.

Emma Heinrichs added 18 attacks with six kills, two digs and 16 of 18 serves with five aces.

Madison Hough made 14 attacks with seven kills, dig digs and three blocks, while Kylea Fehr added 13 attacks with four kills, nine digs and 10 of 11 serves with two aces.

Anna Sorenson made nine attacks with two kills and five digs and Madison Norris added five attacks with two kills, 29 assists, 12 digs and 12 of 13 serves with an ace.

Taylor Park added 17 digs, two blocks and 12 of 12 serves with four aces and Chloe Bakken made one attack with five digs and five of six serves with two aces.

The lone setback of the day came against Emmetsburg,, as the Titans fell by scores of 10-21 and 13-21.

Toni Alesch made 15 attacks with three kills, one dig and one block with two of three serves, while Emma Heinrichs added 13 attacks with one kill, seven digs, and four of five serves with one ace.

Kylea Fehr added 10 attacks with two kills, eight digs and three of four serves.

For the final game of the tournament, GT/RA?defeated Harris-Lake Park by scores of 21-15 and 21-18.

Emma Heinrichs had 14 attacks with two kills, five digs and three of three serves, while Kylea Fehr added 11 attacks with six kills, four digs and four of four serves. Toni Alesch chipped in 10 attack with three kills, dig digs, a block and seven of eight serves with four aces.

Madison Norris would hand out 15 assists, one attack and one kill, dug out nine shots and made 13 of 13 serves with an ace for the Titans.
