Shane Allen Paskert, son of Gary and Sharon (Stoltenberg) Paskert, was born Oct. 8, 1970 in Emmetsburg. He received his education in Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1989. Following high school, Shane attended Iowa Lakes Community College, graduating in 1991.

He was employed at Diesel Specialties in Estherville and then returned to Emmetsburg where he did mechanical work at Farm Service and other area businesses.

In 2002, Shane was given the Gift of Life by his mother, Sharon, when she donated a kidney to Shane, who was battling health issues. After his recovery from the surgery, he worked various odd jobs for area farmers as well as doing snow blowing and lawn mowing for individuals in town.

Shane loved hunting deer and pheasants. Along with his enjoyment of hunting came his interest in guns. He maintained his mechanical interests throughout his life, working on cars and fixing things.

Shane stayed active in current events, both at a state and local level. He served on the board of the Emmetsburg Senior Center, where he had held the office of Vice President. Shane always wanted the best for his community and was willing to stand up for his beliefs and ideas.

Shane experienced many health issues throughout his life, especially as a diabetic. He never let these issues keep him down. He was always ready and willing to help anyone he could, at any time. He looked forward to coffee at McDonald's each morning with "the guys" and loved taking care of his dog, Joker. He was proud of his niece and liked spending time with her and his family.

Shane passed away suddenly, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 46. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Paskert in 1999 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Sharon Paskert of Emmetsburg; his sisters, Shawna Harris and her husband, Scott of Woodbine, and Stacey Paskert of Omaha, NE; his niece, Addyson Harris of Woodbine; and many friends.
