Netters Open Twin Lakes Tournament Play

ALTA - Play in the Twin Lakes Conference volleyball tournament began Tuesday night for all three Palo Alto County teams. Emmetsburg played at Alta, while Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire played in Pocahontas and West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate played in Lake City.

In action at Alta on Tuesday, Emmetsburg would fall to Alta-Aurelia 2-0 by game scores of 11-25 and 6-25, but came back to defeat St. Mary's of Storm Lake by scores of 25-19 and 25-16.

At Pocahontas, GT/RA fell to Pocahontas Area 1-2, by scores of 21-25, 25-18 and 5-15. The Titans then defeated Manson Northwest Webster 2-1, by scores of 25-23, 22-25 and 15-12.

At Lake City, West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate fell to South Central Calhoun 2-0 by scores of 15-25 and 14-25 and then fell to Southeast Valley 2-0 by scores of 23-25 and 21-25.

Emmetsburg will play East Sac County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Laurens, while GT/RA will play South Central Calhoun at 5:30 p.m. in Laurens. The Lady Wolverines of WBM/GCB will play at 5:30 p.m Thursday against St. Mary's of Storm Lake in action at Sioux Central High School in Sioux Rapids.

For Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks, the match against Alta-Aurelia was a tough start to the league tournament on Tuesday night. Alta-Aurelia dominated the match, winning by scores of 25-11 and 25-6.

For Emmetsburg, Molly Schany made 11 attacks with two kills, while adding a pair of digs.

Parker Traub added 10 attacks with two kills, one dig, handed out three assists and made three of four serves.

Emma Anderson would add 10 attacks with two kills.

Morgan Jamison made six attacks with one kill and connected on four of four serves, while Abbie Schany also made six attacks and dug out four shots.

Gretchen Hofstad made two attacks, but dug out five shots and made two of two serves.

Macy McAllister added two digs and handed out three assists, while adding two of two serves and Brielle Madden made two of three serves with one ace.

Lindsay Carter would added two digs and made three of three serves to round out the match.

The second match of the night went better for Emmetsburg as they would defeat the Panthers of St. Mary's by game scores of 25-19 and 25-16.

Parker Traub would lead the offense with 31 attacks and nine kills and dug out three shots, while making five of five serves and handing out 10 assists to her teammates.

Molly Schany would come away with 14 attacks and nine kills, as well as one dig.

Abbie Schany added 10 attacks with four kills and made five digs, as well as an assist.

Emma Anderson chipped in nine attacks with two kills and dug out one shot while handing out three assists.

Gretchen Hofstad added six attacks in the match with a pair of kills, and dug out seven shots, while dishing out two assists and connecting on seven of eight serving attempts with one ace serve.

Morgan Jamison would add five attacks with five digs, but was perfect at the serving line, connecting on all 15 of her attempts and tallying a pair of aces in the process.

Macy Mcallister added four digs and handed out seven assists while making eight of nine serves with three aces and Lindsay Carter would come away with one dig and five of six serves in the winning effort.
