Iva "Ivy" Williams

A visitation for Ivy Williams will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire.

The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Reverend Kris Hackbart will officiate.

Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery in Ayrshire. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Iva Williams, daughter of Howard and Mabel (Nichols) Reese, was born Aug. 13, 1931 in rural West Bend. She began her education in country school between Mallard and West Bend and graduated from West Bend High School. As a young girl Iva became known as "Ivy" to her family and friends.

On June 19, 1951 Ivy was united in marriage to Burness G. Williams in Algona. To this union four children were born.

Ivy and Burness farmed in the Curlew, Webb and Emmetsburg areas. Ivy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

Ivy was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire where she was active in the Goodwill circle, helping with countless events held at the church. Ivy chaperoned an U.M.Y.F. trip to the Black Hills which she truly enjoyed. She spent many hours volunteering at the Ruthven Community Care Center.

Ivy died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burness in 2007; brothers, Floyd Reese, Raymond Reese and Melvin Reese; and one sister, Luella Duis.

She is survived by her children, Rodney D. Williams (Barb) of Holts Summit, MO, Gary L. Williams (Jerry) of Albert Lea, MN, Karen A. Raper (Doug) of Weare, NH and Robert A. Williams (Barb) of Roland; grandchildren, Rodney Williams, Jr., Johann Williams, Duke Williams, Miles Williams, Jason Raper, Jennifer Clarke, Spencer Williams and Gabriel Williams; two great grandchildren, Owen and William Clarke; a brother, Lyle Reese of Farnhamville; a sister, Verla Brown of West Bend; as well as many other relatives and friends.

The family requests memorials be given to the Ayrshire American Legion, Ayrshire First Responders, Ruthven Community Care Center or Lakeside Lutheran Home.
