Time to File Petitions For County Officers

Every two years a Primary Election is held in Palo Alto County in June to decide what candidates will be on the ballot in November.

County Offices up for election this year are the County Treasurer, Robin Jamison; the County Recorder, Susan Ruppert and the County Attorney Peter Hart. Also up for election are three Palo Alto County Supervisor seats: District 1 Keith Wirtz, District 2 Craig Merrill and District 5 Linus Solberg.

Filing dates to run for County Office is Monday, March 5 to Wednesday, March 28 at 5:00 p.m.

The minimum number of signatures required for each office, depending on the candidates declared party, are as follows:

Treasure, Recorder and Attorney- Democratic 28

Republican 62

Supervisor, District 1- Democratic 4

Republican 16

Supervisor, District 2- Democratic 8

Republican 11

Supervisor, District 5- Democratic 6

-Republican 13

Remember, if you are signing a Supervisor petition, you must live within the district of the Supervisor.
