by Mrs. Amanda Schmidt

Superintendent

The Emmetsburg Community School District is on a mission to improve our culture and climate within our staff and our students. Each month we will be selecting an E-Hawk Staff Member of the Month. This person is selected based on recommendations given to the superintendent on why they are "Being the Difference" for the Emmetsburg Community School District. February's Staff Member of the Month is Patty Kelly. Mrs. Kelly is an English Language Learners & Title 1 Para-educator.

Patty Kelly

Mr. Embrock, High School Principal, describes Mrs. Kelly in the following way, " Patty Kelly is a highly dedicated and caring educator. Some of our most struggling students would not be as successful at our school without Patty's dedication and desire. She is willing to help her students in any way possible and often goes above and beyond her expected duties. It is quite obvious that she cares about our students and wants them to be successful. Patty is positive,

fun, and the ultimate team member. Patty is truly a valuable member of our Emmetsburg Educational Team. Mrs. Kelly is an example of "Being the Difference" for the Emmetsburg Community School District!"

Each Staff Member of the Month is asked to fill out a questionnaire so we are able to get to know them better. Please see Mrs. Kelly's responses below:

1. Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

2. Advice to other staff on how to "Be the Difference": Lead with your heart and the rest will follow. Always smile even if you don't feel like it.

3. 3 Words to describe Emmetsburg Schools: Innovative, Inspiring, Flexible

4. What is the most challenging part of your job? Finding enough hours in the day to accomplish all I would like to.

5. What is the most unusual or interesting job you've had? I worked for a Fortune 500 company in California as a supervisor for 2 departments. While there, I hired a 70 year old retired teacher to join our group. What an asset he was!

6. Who would you like to be for a day? Dr. Seuss so that I could tap into his creative mind. I would love to write a children's book.

7. What is an ability you wish you had? The ability to heal the sick.

8. Name a fun fact about yourself: I am the youngest of 10 and was born two days before Christmas, messing up the day for my siblings. They hold this fact over my head.

Congratulations to Mrs. Patty Kelly on being February's E-Hawk Staff Member of the Month!
