After an initial bond issue attempt failed by less than two percent last September, voters in the Graettinger-Terril Community School district approved a $9.7 million bond issue question Tuesday.

The bond question, which required a 60 percent approval for passage under Iowa law, received 61.6 percent approval, with 38.3 percent of the voters opposing the question. A total of 658 votes were cast in favor of the question, with 410 votes against the measure.

Despite wintry weather conditions through the day, a total of 512 voters in the Graettinger precinct turned out to cast ballots, while 306 voters in the Terril precinct ventured to the polls.
