4-H?FAMILY?FISH?IOWA - Approximately thirty Palo Alto and Pocahontas County 4-Hers and their families participated in our annual 4-H Family Fish Iowa Event on Friday, June 1st at Silver Lake, near Ayrshire. This was the Iowa DNR’s free fishing weekend, so even if families weren’t regular fishing people, they were able to explore fishing that day without a fishing license. Besides fishing, 4-H families enjoyed an evening of kayaking on the lake. Lunch was also included and consisted of grilled hot dogs, chips, a cookie, and drink. A special thanks to the Pocahontas Conservation for supplying the fishing poles and kayaks. This event was free to all 4-Hers and their families in the two counties. -- Julie Niag photo
