HUMBOLDT - Making their second road trip in as many nights, Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks traveled to Humboldt Tuesday night but were shut out in a 12-0 loss to the Wildcats. Emmetsburg slips to 3-4 with the setback.

Emmetsburg opened with Lindsay Carter hitting a single, but she would be left waiting when the Lady E-Hawks's Abbie Schany popped out to the pitcher, Molly Schany struck out, and Annie Brennan pooped out to the pitcher to end the at-bat.

Humboldt would lead off with a single and a walk, but ended up with nothing to show for the effort to end the inning.

In the top of the second inning, Emma Anderson led off for the Lady E-Hawks being hit by a pitch. Mikayla Frerichs grounded out for the first out and Ali Laubenthal was called out on strikes. Brielle Madden, would come up to bat and pounded out a single to move Anderson to second base, but Anderson and Madden would be left waiting when Parker Traub struck out to end the opportunity.

Humboldt erupted offensively in the bottom of the second inning, leading off with a walk. A strikeout would follow, but a walk was followed by a single and a walk and an error as the runners began crossing the plate. Another walk would be followed by a fly out for the second out, but Humboldt would get another base hit, a walk, an error and a pair of hits and a walk before the Emmetsburg defense could stop the flood and end the inning.

Trailing 10-0 to start the third inning, Emmetsburg led off with a fly out by Lindsay Carter. Abbie Schany would draw a walk and stole second base before Molly Schany struck out, but the at-bat would end when Annie Brennan grounded out to first.

Humboldt would come up and opened the bottom of the third with a walk, back-to-back singles, another walk and a base hit that would give the Wildcats the 12-0 lead, ending the contest.

Lindsay Carter took the loss in two innings of work, allowing 12 runs, four earned, off eight hits with one strikeout and nine walks.
