E-Hawk Boys Of Summer Fall At Newell-Fonda

NEWELL - Emmetsburg's E-Hawks got off to a slow start Monday night against Newell-Fonday and ended up on the wrong side of a 13-6 final score. The loss dropped the E-Hawks to 3-3 on the season as they start a busy week on the diamond.

The E-Hawks opened with a walk of Dylan Kibbie, but a double play would take Kibbie ad Corbin Saathoff out. Jeremiah Weir would single, but was left waiting when Hunter McAllister was put out.

Newell-Fonda would plate two quick runs in their half of the first, using a walk and fielders' choice to score their runs, while leaving the bases loaded for a 2-0 lead..

Emmetsburg would load the bases in the top of the second, but couldn 't bring their runnners home, while the Mustangs added a run off three base hits for a 3-0 lead.

To start the third, Emmetsburg would get runners on base off back-to-back errors, but once again couldn't bring the runners home. The Mustangs plated a fourth run off a base hit to take a 4-0 lead as the fourth inning began.

Lex Kassel would lead off the fourth with a double for the E-Hawks, but was left waiting as the at-bat ended.

Newell-Fonda would erupt for seven runs in the bottom of the inning off two walks, two doubles, three base hits and an error before Emmetsburg could stop the Mustangs,

Trailing 11-0 to start the fifth inning, Emmetsburg would get Jeremiah Weir on base off an error and Hunter McAllister would single. The duo came roun the bases and scored off a single from Nick Schanywith two outs, but Schany was left waiting when the opportunity ended.

The Mustangs would go down in order in the bottom of the inning for an 11-2 score.

The E-Hawks would continue their rally in the top of the sixth, getting a base hit from Jace Carlson befroe back-to-back walks for Dylan Kibbie and Corbin Saathoff. Jeremiah Weir would rap out a single to score Carlson and Kibbie before Saathoff came home off an error on Hunter McAllister's at-bat. Weir would then come home off a ground-out by Nick Krieg but McAllister was left waiting when the opportunity ended.

Holding an 11-6 lead, Newell-Fonda would get two base hits and three walks with an error to push two more runs over the plate for a 13-6 lead to start the finial inning.

Emmetsburg would get Lex Kassel on base off an error with one out in the top of the seventh, but he was left waiting when the E-Hawks were retired to end the contest.

Hunter McAllister started the contest on the hill for Emmetsburg and went two innings, surrendering four runs, all earned, off four hits with four walks and one strikeout.

Lex Kassel would relieve the final four innings and gave up nine runs, four earned, off eight hits with six walks.

The E-Hawks would get a double from Kassel, while Nick Schany had two hits and Jace Carlson added one hit to the effort.
