Emmetsburg Tops Tornadoes; Takes Down Titans

Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks traveled to Storm Lake Thursday night to get back on the winning track with a 5-3 victory over the Tornadoes. They brought Emmetsburg back to .500 on the season with a 4-4 mark.

Emmetsburg would take an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Abbie Schany and Molly Schany would come home after singles by Abbie Schany and Annie Brennan.

The game would settle into a defensive battle for the next two innings until the top of the fourth when the Lady E-Hawks pushed three runs over the plate. Ali Laubenthal, Raven Brown and Lindsay Carter would all score runs off base hits by Brown, Carter and Abbie Schany to put Emmetsburg up 5-0.

But in the bottom of the sixth inning, Storm Lake found their offense and managed to score three runs, cutting the margin to 5-3 but Emmetsburg would hold on to earn the win.

Mikayla Frerichs got the win in seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, off four hits with three walks and 13 strikeouts.

Emmetsburg got three hits from Abbie Schany and two hits from Annie Brennan, along with singles from Lindsay Carter and Raven Brown.

The Lady E-Hawks of Emmetsburg returned home Friday night to collect an 11-1 Twin Lakes Conference win over South Central Calhoun. The win moves Emmetsburg to 5-4 on the season.

Emmetsburg would take an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Lindsay Carter and Abbie Schany plated runs off singles from Abbie Schany and Annie Brennan.

The Lady E-Hawks added two more runs in the second when Brielle Madden and Lindsay Carter both plated runs after hits from Madden, Carter and Abbie Schany.

After South Central Calhoun got a run in the top of the third, Emmetsburg erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Parker Traub, Lindsay Carter, Abbie Schany, Molly Schany, Annie Brennan and Ali Laubenthal all came home, sparked by a three RBI triple from Molly Schany in the inning.

Emmetsburg held South Central Calhoun scoreless in the fifth, but couldn't add to their total in their half of the inning. In the sixth, the Titans were shut out once again, but Emmetsburg would end the game when Annie Brennan doubled and scored off a base hit from Emma Anderson for the 11-1 win by the 10-run rule.

Mikayla Frerichs got the win in six innings, giving up one earned off four hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.

Emmetsburg got a triple from Molly Schany and double from Annie Brennan. Abbie Schany had four hits, while Lindsay Carter, Molly Schany, Emma Anderson and Brielle Madden all had two hits and Annie Brennan added her double.
