Sioux Central Defeats Emmetsburg 7-4

Emmetsburg's boys of summer saw their record fall to 5-6 after a 7-4 loss to Sioux Central on Monday.

Sioux Central would take a 1-0 lead after the top of the first, but Emmetsburg was held scoreless in their half of the first to trail 1-0 to start the second. Neither team would score in the second inning, but in the top of the third, Sioux Cental

Trailing 7-0, Emmetsburg would keep Sioux Central from scoring in the top of the fifth, and finally found their offense with two runs in the bottom of the inning from Corbin Saathoff and Hunter McAllister off two walks and a double for a 7-2 score.

Sioux Central was denied in the top of the sixth and Emmetsburg plated a run from Lex Kassel off a single and a double to make the score 7-3 to start the seventh inning.

Emmetsburg's defense denied Sioux Central in the top of the seventh and the E-Hawks would push one more run over the plate when Hunter McAllister came home off a walk and two base hits, but Nick Schany and Jeremiah Weir were stranded when the game ended.

Corbin Saathoff pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs, two earned, off one hit with five walks and five strikeouts. Jeremiah Weir would pitch four and a third innings, giving up one earned run off five hits, with two walks and three strikeouts.

The E-Hawks got two doubles from Dylan Kibbie and a double from Nick Schany, while Hunter McAllister, Lex Kassel, Nick Schany and Jeremiah Weir all added base hits to the effort.
