E-Hawk Boys Down Manson NW Webster

The Emmetsburg E-Hawks collected a 4-2 victory over Manson Northwest Webster in Twin Lakes Conference baseball action last Wednesday night. The win improved Coach Brett Hansen's team to 6-6 on the season.

Manson Northwest Webster would score a run in the top of the first inning off a pair of errors before a ground out scored the run. The E-Hawks would come up in the bottom of the inning and got a leadoff walk for Hunter McAllister, who would come around the bases to score off a single by Nick Schany, who would put out on a force. Jeremiah Weir would walk but would be left waiting at third when the inning ended.

With the score tied at 1-1 to start the second, Emmetsburg retired the Cougars in order and in their half of the inning, got a leadoff Home Run from Dylan Kibbie. Corbin Saathoff would get on base off a walk, but was caught stealing for the second out and a fly ball would end the inning with Emmetsburg now holding a 2-1 lead.

Manson Northwest Webster would get a double in the top of the third and a walk, but left both runners stranded when the at-bat ended. Emmetsburg would get a single from Nick Schany, who would be left waiting when the inning ended to preserve the 2-1 lead for the E-Hawks.

The Cougars would go down in order in the fourth once again, and the E-Hawks got a single from Dylan Kibbie and put Nick Krieg on base off an error, but the duo would be left stranded when the inning ended.

In the top of the fifth inning, Manson Northwest Webster got a triple and a walk and had a batter hit by a pitch to load the bases, but left the bags loaded when they were retired to end the threat. The E-Hawks would get Hunter McAllister on base off a walk, but would be put out as the side was retired to end the inning.

The Cougars would score a run in the top of the sixth, after having a batter hit by a pitch that would come around to score off a single and an error. The E-Hawks would go down one out in the bottom of the sixth, but Lex Kassel walked and Dylan Kibbie got on base off a walk and Nick Krieg got on base off a fielders choice that saw Krieg thrown out at third. A walk of Corbin Saathoff would score Kibbie's run and a wild pitch would allow Krieg to come home before Jace Carlson walked, and Hunter McAllister walked, only to all be stranded when the inning ended with Emmetsburg holding a 4-2 lead.

In the top of the seventh, the Cougars would be retired in order to end the game in the win for the E-Hawks.

Ben Dunlap would pitch five innings for Emmetsburg, giving up two runs, one earned, off two hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Lex Kassel relieved for two innings, giving up one hits.

The E-Hawks would get a solo home run from Dylan Kibbie and two hits from Nick Schany in the win.
