Lady E-Hawks Win Continuation Game; Take Two at Tournament

Playing a game that was halted due to weather earlier in the month, Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks improved their season mark to 13-5 Friday night with a 9-1 win over West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate.

The Lady Wolverines would strand two runners in the first, and Emmetsburg would go down in order to end the first frame. In the second, WBM/GCB would again leave two runners waiting for a way home to end the at-bat.

Emmetsburg would push five runs over the plate in the bottom of the frame, as Annie Brennan, Abbie Schany, Mikayla Frerichs, Emma Anderson and Parker Traub all came across the plate, but left Molly Schany waiting at third when the inning ended.

In the top of the third inning, the Lady Wolverines erased their goose-egg when Madison Wickman came across the plate, but left two runners waiting at first and second before the Lady E-Hawks scored two runs when Ali Laubenthal and Emma Anderson crossed the plate, but Macy McAllister and Lindsay Carter were left waiting when the inning ended with a 7-1 lead.

The Lady Wolverines would leave Madison Wickman waiting when the at-bat ended and Emmetsburg would leave Abbie Schany and Mikayla Frerichs waiting on base when the inning ended. WBM/GCB would be retired in order in their half of the inning, but Emmetsburg would get a run from Parker Traub, but Macy McAllister and Annie Brennan were stranded when the inning ended with an 8-1 lead for Emmetsburg.

In the top of the sixth, the Lady Wolverines were retired in order and Emmetsburg would get one more run when Ali Laubenthal came across the plate before Parker Traub was stranded when the inning ended.

Mikayla Frerichs would pitch three innings, giving up one run off two hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Lindsay Carter pitched four innings, giving up one hit with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Emmetsburg got three hits from Macy McAllister, while Annie Brennan, Molly Schany, Brielle Madden, Lindsay Carter and Morgan Jamison all had base hits.

Callie Clark pitched three innings and giving three runs, two earned, off four hits with three walks and two strikeouts, while Morgan Schmidt pitched three innings and gave up six runs, five earned, off four hits with six walks and one strikeout.

The Lady Wolverines got hits from Jessica Morey, Kendall Brosh and Anna Ackerman.
