“Makin’ A Wave” At Bully Bullhead Weekend

Bully Bullhead Weekend kicks off Friday, July 6, with activities scheduled throughout the weekend.

There is a ride for everyone:?the Tractor Ride begins at 8 a.m. Friday and the Bike Ride begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Kids Pedal Pull at 6 p.m.

The Citizen of the Year Presentation is at 5:40 p.m. at Iowa State Bank.The bank is also the location of the Pork Patty Grill Out.

Additional Friday highlights are the Friends of the Library Book Sale, and two divisions of 3-on-3 Basketball. The Buffalo Ridge Renegades will set up late Friday afternoon at West Cricket Park. They will give demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Toss your line in the water for the 26th Annual LIRBA Bully Bullhead Weekend Fishing Contest on Saturday morning at Lost Island Lake. Take in the city-wide garage sales, bake sales and craft show.

The 5K, 10K and Fun Run are Saturday morning. Antique Tractors and Machinery will be on display at the Care Center. Stop at the Social Center for a mid-morning snack of pie and ice cream. Turkey Fillet Feed (and Brats) will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dip Netting at the Nature Center is at 10 a.m., and the Cruise In at Cricket Park begins at noon.

The annual Bully Bullhead Weekend Parade hits the street at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Ruthven History Slide Show will be presented at the Library. A Bean Bag Tournament is at the R-A?Athletic Field.

Ruthven-Ayrshire School Tours begin at 4 p.m., prior to the All-School Reunion. The reunion supper is at 5 p.m. in the school bus barn. Alumni Basketball Games will be held at the school.

The Firemen's Street Dance begins at 9 pm. Saturday on Main Street. Judd Hoos will provide music.

The weekend of events continues on Sunday with a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the Legion Hall. Serving begins at 7L30 a.m. Legion Auxiliary members will host a Bake Sale.

Sunday morning services will be held at Lost Island Lutheran, Ruthven United Methodist and Zion Lutheran Churches.

Buffalo Ridge Renegades demonstrations are from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. The Bullseye Trap Shoot is at 10 a.m. at Bill Grange's farm.

The fishing contest ends at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with awards at 11 a.m. at Bobber Down Bait Shop.

The Progressive Organ Recital with Glenn Henriksen begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church. The recital will move to the Catholic Church, and then move to Ruthven Methodist Church, and conclude at Lost Island Lutheran Church.

Capping off the day is an Ice Cream Social from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lost Island Lutheran Church. The blacktop is under construction, so take Highway 18 to the Ayrshire corner (380th Avenue), travel five miles north on gravel and dead end at the church. Maidrites, pie and ice cream will be served, with a gluten free menu available.
