Exhibition Of Works By Woodcrafter Joe Joyce

August 7, 2018
Emmetsburg News

An exhibition of works by wood crafter, Joe Joyce of Emmetsburg, will begin on Saturday August 11 in the Emmetsburg Library and will run until Saturday September 8. The exhibition is sponsored by the Palo Alto Arts Council.

Joe's interest in crafting started when the grove at his parent's home was taken down. The walnut was just too nice to throw away. He had the wood sliced up and this started his passion for construction. Joe's first project was to build a miniature corn crib, which will be on display at the library. In the years to follow, a replica of the Episcopal Church came to life. Included in the display will be an antique watering tank used for trains, Fr. Farley's home now owned by Joe and Anna Veltri, A Skelly gas station, The Cylinder Coop, and more. Joe's latest reproduction is that of a Water Low Boy tractor, of which he had an original. Joe's next adventure is to build "to scale" tractors, which will reveal his obvious love of tractors.
