District Associate Judge Is Appointed

Following an application and interview process over the past few weeks, the District Court Judges of Iowa Judicial District 3A met on Friday, August 10 to make an appointment. The judges filled the vacancy in the district that was created earlier this year by the appointment of Judge Charles Borth of Spencer to the district court bench.

According to Acting District Court Administrator Pam Calhoun of Sioux City, the District Court Judges appointed Attorney Andrew J. Smith of Storm Lake, to the District Associate Judge's position.

Andrew Smith is currently in private practice in Storm Lake and is a part-time magistrate in Calhoun County, Iowa.

As a District Association Judge, Andrew Smith will start his District Associate position in 30 days.

The Iowa Judicial Sub-District 3A consists of Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O'Brien, Osceola and Palo Alto Counties.
