Graveside services for 65-year old Claude W. Pettit of Spencer and formerly of Emmetsburg will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg with Rev. Bill Schreiber officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery with arrangements by the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home of Emmetsburg. Claude died Friday, August 24, 2018 at Longhouse in Spencer, Iowa.

Claude W. Pettit, son of Claude J. and Marie (Frederick) Pettit, was born August 18, 1953 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. After his family moved to California, Claude graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1972. He later made his home in Reno, Nevada with his family.

Claude did factory work and after returning to Emmetsburg, he worked at Sky Jack. Claude loved wiring and working on telephones and T.V.'s. He loved listening to music and watching old movies. Claude could tell you all of the actors in each movie and enjoyed quoting lines from the movies. One of his favorites was the original King Kong. Claude spent a lot of time walking around town, no matter the weather.

Due to health issues, Claude moved to Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg where he lived until 2014, when he moved to Longhouse in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Marie; his siblings, Alice McEvoy Blackstock, Robert "Bob" Pettit, Mary Blake and Thomas "Tom" Pettit.

He is survived by his sisters, Claudia (Larry) Liessman of Ruthven, Iowa and Pati Crowell of Reno, Nevada; a brother, Donald (Mary Ann) Pettit of Reno, Nevada; sisters-in-law, Shari Pettit of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Kathy Pettit of Ruthven, Iowa; an uncle, Lee Frederick of Emmetsburg, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as other relatives and friends.
