Richard “Rick” Bergstrom

Funeral services for Richard "Rick" Bergstrom were held Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Pastor David VanHeuvelen, New Hope Community Chapel officiating.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Martin-Mattice was in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Earl Bergstrom, was born to Richard Nock and Rosalind (Noll) Clemitson, on Aug. 15, 1957, in Emmetsburg. He received his education in Mallard, graduating from Mallard High School in 1975.

He was a herdsman and farm manager in and near Wever. Rick later attended Iowa Lakes Community College, graduating in 2005. He became a master electrician and started his own electrical business in the Emmetsburg area.

Richard was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He was passionate about his cars and motorcycle. His family remembers him as a hard-worker with a big heart.

Rick, at the age of 61, passed unexpectedly in a single car accident on Sept. 8, 2018.

Richard is survived by his mother, Rose (Dick) Clemitson of Emmetsburg; his sons, Dallas (Sara) Bergstrom of Katy, TX and Derrick Bergstrom of Denver, CO; his two grandsons, Brady Blake; his siblings Robert (Susan Jo) Bergstrom of Fort Madison; Randy Bergstrom of Colorado Springs, CO; Regina (Jeff) Perlow of Cave Creek, AZ; Rodney (Marci) Bergstrom of Boyden; and Renae (Shawn) Reed of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, Richard Nock, father, Robert Bergstrom, and brother, Russell Bergstrom.
