County last Thursday.

The Lady E-Hawks were

looking to end a two-match

skid but did not have an answer

for East Sac's attack

and finesse game. Emmetsburg

lost in straight sets, 27-

25, 25-17 and 25-22.

In set one, Emmetsburg

took an early 7-4 lead but

gave up nine straight points.

The E-Hawks righted the

course, first tying the set at

16-16 and then going up a

point. But time and time

again, the Raiders deceived

Emmetsburg's defense, alternating

spikes with touch

shots.

Credit the Lady E-Hawks

for not caving. With the

team down 24-22, Abbie

Schany delivered a key

spike. 24-23 was the point

of the match. Both squads

displayed admirable tenacity

as they battled for each

loose ball. Emmetsburg

again evened the score and

then went ahead, 25-24. But

East Sac rolled off three

straight points, taking the

set 27-24.

Down early in the second

set, Gretchen Hofstad connected

with a spike and

Molly Schany followed

suit, landing two of her

match-high 13 kills to put

the E-Hawks ahead, 12-11.

But sketchy play doomed

the Lady E-Hawks, as

spikes went awry, sets

placed attackers too close or

too far from the and the defense

was out of position to

deal with the dinks and

drops East Sac dispensed at

will. Despite trying the set

at 13 on a Schany the elder

spike, Emmetsburg could

not creep back in due to the

Raiders' consistent game.

The Lady E-Hawks lost the

second, 25-17.

Emmetsburg displayed its

usual form at the start of set

three. Behind the alwaysconsistent

service games of

Raegan Swanson and Savannah

Wolf, and behind

quality team defense, the EHawks

stayed close through

the halfway mark of the set.

But the Raiders had too

much firepower. East Sac's

spikers were dialed in,

notching 38 kills on 93 attack

attempts for the match.

Sophomores Bailey Wollesen

and Briana Boeckman

had 18 and 11 kills for the

match, respectively.

With the Raiders up 18-

13, Emmetsburg called time

out. Returning to court, East

Sac increased its lead to 20-

13. Alternating between

spikes and touch shots, the

Raiders kept Emmetsburg

guessing. East Sac closed

out the set 25-22 and the

match.

Molly Schany led Emmetsburg

with 13 kills.

Macy McAllister's steady

setting game wasn't but the

sophomore did go 10 for 10

in serves. She also turned in

four digs. Freshman Swanson

had a strong game, with

nine digs and 14 of 16 in

serves.
