WIDE SPREAD PANIC - About 10 people came to hear Michael Luick-Trams speak about the panic and chaos the 1918 Spanish Flu. The flu virus manifested itself in Kansas, traveled to Europe and Africa. It is believed that in Africa another virus merged with the flu virus and created the Spanish Flu. Fifty million died worldwide with at least 675,000 deaths in the U.S. and of those, at least 6,000 were from, iowa.
