Service for Ethel M. DeJung was held Monday, Dec. 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Rev. Hojin Shin and Rev. Peter Morlock officiated.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Mae DeJung, daughter of Rueben and Cecal (Lawrence) Haag, was born March 7, 1938 on a farm north of Emmetsburg. She received her education in Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1956.

On Dec. 4, 1972, Ethel was united in marriage to LeeRoy Albert DeJung in the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.

Ethel was employed at Berkley's for 16 years and then was employed at Eaton's in Spencer. She later worked at SNC in Emmetsburg, until her retirement.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg and the Red Hat Society, Chapter Sassy Lassies.

Ethel enjoyed listening to music, especially 50s Rock and Roll and Country and Western. As a young lady she liked dancing and traveling with The Suades when they performed. Ethel loved to travel and had the opportunity to see New York City, Branson, Las Vegas and Washington, D.C.

Ethel passed away, Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeeRoy in 1994; brothers, Donald Davis and Edwin Haag; her sister, Evelyn Tilford and a sister in infancy.

She is survived by her children, Lori (Rich) Hall of Emmetsburg, David (Nancy) Lowe of Woden, and John Lowe of Cherokee; two grandsons, Alex and Jacob Hall of Emmetsburg; as well as many other relatives and friends.
