Vida M. Krough

The service for Vida M. Krough was held Monday, Dec. 24, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Rev. Hojin Shin officiated.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vida Mae Krough, daughter of Joseph and Olive (Fox) Bramley, was born Dec. 24, 1922 in Arion. She received her education in Dow City.

In 1943 Vida was united in marriage to Carroll H. Kimmick. Vida was employed at Crow Drug for a few years before her marriage to Fay Melvin Zeigler in Feb. 1945. She then helped on the farm and cared for her family. They were blessed with a son and a daughter.

Vida was a member of the First United Methodist Church and church circle, Freedom Township Women's Club, Birthday Club and the Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary.

After Fay's death, Vida later married Earnest J. Krough in Mar. 1976. Vida loved playing Bingo several times a week and also playing cards with her friends.

She enjoyed planting and tending her flower gardens and thoroughly loved decorating her home for the holidays. She looked forward to Halloween and giving the kids candy. Each year she kept track of how many children she had come to her home.

Vida was able to live in her own home until July 2016 when she moved to the Emmetsburg Care Center.

Vida passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 95.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Carroll Kimmick, Fay Zeigler and Earnest Krough; two brothers, Richard Bramley and Gene Bramley; two sisters, Sally Morgan and Ruth Harson; a step daughter, Lois Krough; and a son-in-law, Emery Culbertson.

She is survived by her children, Rosemary Culbertson of Emmetsburg and Daniel F. (Betty) Zeigler of Emmetsburg; step children, Donald Krough of Emmetsburg, Lynn (Charles) Voigt of Altoona, Lori (Barb) Krough of Oklahoma City, Ok.; seven grandchildren, Dena (Brian) Bierstedt, Renay (Brian) Hellickson, Danielle (Todd) Ditch, Jeremy (Ann) Zeigler, Justin (Michael Garland) Zeigler, Lee (Cheryl) Voigt and Amy (Jeffrey) Morrison; eleven great grandchildren, Kaleb Bierstedt, Kendal Bierstedt, Megan (Justin) Delany, Brandyn Hauswirth, Trenton Ditch, Halle Ditch, Gage Ditch, Ali Weir, Colby Weir, Creighton Zeigler, and Cade Morrison; brothers, Jim (Maggie) Bramley, Frank Bramley and Ron Bramley; sister, Charlotte (Herb) Morey; many nieces and nephews; Ernie Krough's step children; as well as many other relatives and friends.
