Coming off of a two game win streak, the E-Hawk Boys Basketball team lost at home to the Twin Lakes Conference second best Sioux Central Rebels (11-1 overall) with a final score of 49-39. This matchup was the only time the E-Hawks would face the Rebels this season.

Coming into the game, the Rebels average 61.5 points per game and are an aggressive team with a 61.7 free throw percentage. Head Coach Bill Geelan says that his team was forced to make a lot of outside shots and struggled to get to the free throw line early which contributed to the 10-7 score at the end of the first quarter.

"We had a lot of good looks" says Coach Geelan, "But we just couldn't get any of them to fall".

Geelan said he was pleased with the work that his squad was putting in against the Rebels at the end of the first half where his boys were down just 21-18.

"We held them well below their half time average", he said. The E-Hawks were able to limit the penetration and keep the Rebels' outside of the box grabbing 32 rebounds to the Rebels' 26.

Sophomore Ben Dunlap displayed his talents with a team high 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Senior Clayton Swanson scored six points and grabbed three rebounds for the boys. Corbin Saathoff, Tim Geelan and Zach Foxhoven all had five points.

The E-Hawks will face off at home again on Thursday night (January 17) against the Estherville-Lincoln-Central Midgets. This will be the second meeting where the E-Hawks lost a close game against the Midgets a month ago.
