Douglas S. Bailey

RUTHVEN -- A Celebration of Life for Douglas S. Bailey was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.

Douglas Stanford Bailey, son of William Stanford and Sarah Ellen (Richardson) Bailey, was born June 13, 1957 in Lake City. He began his education in Lake City and after his family moved to Ruthven, Doug completed his education at Ruthven Community School.

Following high school, Doug was employed with Stevenson Construction in Spencer and he did concrete work for several years.

He later worked at Helen's Laundry in Spencer and also did mechanical work on vehicles which he fixed up and sold. He enjoyed the years he worked at the Clay County Fair in the maintenance department and later as a security guard.

Doug passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, in Rochester, MN, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; a brother, Larry Richardson; and a niece, Angel Haverkorn.

He is survived by his companion, Judy of Spencer; his children, Melinda (Doug) Skidmore of Lake City, and Michael (Jennifer) Bailey of Coon Rapids; 16 grandchildren, four of which Doug and Judy are currently raising; a brother, David (Julie) Bailey of Ruthven; a half brother, Bill Gage of California; nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
