"I would like to nominate Larry Coleman for Citizen of the Year," Allan Oppedal began his letter. "Larry is an individual who has lived in the community all of his life. He is a person who recognizes the good in people and is always willing to help someone in need. He is an authority on community history and blessed with the genuine qualities of empathy and compassion."

Another letter of nomination was signed by numerous community residents:

"We would like to nominate Larry Coleman as Citizen of the Year. He donates lots of hours and lots of fuel after every snow to ensure that many people in our community are able to get in and out of their homes.

"He has spent many hours helping prepare Freedom Rock Park. He has done groundwork and serves on the committee

"He is very supportive of our local businesses and he purchases rolls of Life Savers every week to hand out to children at church.

"Our community is truly blessed to have such a generous, thoughtful, considerate and supportive Life Saver as one of our own. We would love to have him recognized as the Citizen of the Year."

Presenting Coleman with a plaque, Diana Wichman said, "It's a real pleasure to give you this plaque, Larry, as 2019 Citizen of the Year. I'm very proud to hand you this plaque."

Along with the plaque, Diana gave Coleman a gift to open. Inside were rolls of Life Savers.

"I?was truly surprised when I got this sprung on me a couple, three weeks ago," said Larry Coleman. "Even more surprised to even know I was nominated.."

He added, "Alli can do is say - this is a great community. We've all stepped up when we've had hard times and it's time that we all share and give back in some way. Thank you."
