Country School Activities at Palo Alto County Fair

The one room school house will once agin open its doors July 18-20 during the Palo Alto County Fair. School will be in session from 12 noon to 5 p.m. daily. Art activities will be available each day. Rock painting is one of the activities.

Thursday, July 18, at 1 p.m. the Soil and Water Conservation District will present a program on Pollinators. At 2 p.m. the Lost Island Nature Center Naturalist will present a program for all ages.

Friday, July 19, the day begins at 12 noon with the 4-H?Communication Educational Presentations and working exhibits.

Join the group Friday at 2 p.m. for an afternoon about rural education. Laura Carpenter, from the University of Northern Iowa, will share everything you need to know about the UNI?Rural School Collection housed at the college.

At 3 p.m. members of American Association of University Women (AAUW) present Voices from the Past/Present. Roberta Kulow, a former country school teacher, and Marvin Duhn, a former country school student, are featured. Following the program, Remembering Charley Naig, including a presentation from his family, will be held.

Saturday, July 20, the school house will be open to tour and take part in art activities.

The one room school has air conditioning and a new, special ramp that was purchased and installed by the Palo Alto County Fair Board for ease in accessing the school.

Everyone is invited to join the fun at the school, Feel free to park up close to the one room school building.
