Matthew R. Kreutner

Emmetsburg News

Funeral service for Matthew R. Kreutner was held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Kris Hackbart officiated.

Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Matthew Ronald Kreutner, son of Ronald and Joyce (Christoffer) Kreutner, was born May 29, 1973 in Emmetsburg. Matt received his education in Ruthven, graduating from Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School Class of 1991.

Matt grew up on the family farm south of Ruthven, where he was an integral part of the family farm and his dad's trucking company, J&R Kreutner.

It is here that he learned the value of hard work, dedication, honesty and respect.

Between chores, he could be seen riding his bike, with his sister and brothers to the local lake to try his luck at fishing.

His love of paper chains was not equivalent to that of his youngest brothers especially when he came in from a long day to find his room filled with paper chains.

Following high school Matt's dedication to the farming operation lead him to complete the Farm Diesel Mechanics program at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg.

This degree would lead him to work at John Deere in Estherville. While he enjoyed working for John Deere, his love of working side by side with his dad and brother took him back to the farm.

It is here they teamed up to expand the farm and Matt started his own trucking company, Kreutner Enterprises.

Matt was united in marriage to Cara Whited on November 20, 2004 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They were blessed to be parents of three children, Colton, Emily and Wyatt.

His love of fishing lead him on numerous family fishing trips, from Leach Lake, MN to Red Lake, Ontario Canada. While in Canada he was able to participate in fly-in's which took him into the bush with his dad and brother.

Family was very important to Matt and he always found time, in his busy schedule, to spend time with Cara and the kids.

They understood the demands farming and trucking took and made the most of the time they spent together.

Matt passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at his home near Ruthven. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Helen Kreutner, Henry and Lorraine Christoffer; mother-in-law, Ruth Whited; uncle and aunt, Al and Betty Fisher.

He is survived by his wife, Cara of Ruthven; his children, Emily and Wyatt of Ruthven and Colton Whited of Fort Bragg, NC; his parents, Ronald and Joyce Kreutner of Ruthven; his sister, Marci (Jeff) Simington of Ruthven and their children, Tyler (Andrea) and Kyle; his brothers, Brandon Kreutner of Seattle, WA and Adam (Leah) Kreutner of Ruthven and their son, Owen; father-in-law, Cal Whited of Gila Bend, AZ; brothers-in-law, Preston (Patty) and their children, Catalina and Marcello Whited of Alaska, Cliff (Dulce) Whited and their son, Zebastian of Alaska, Mark (Irma) Whited and their children, Jacob and Emma of Nevada; sisters-in-law, Val (Ron) Steinfeld and their children, Peyton and Paige of Nevada, and Michelle (Randy) Frenchman and their children, Lilly and Danielle of Texas; as well as many other relatives and friends.
