Funeral Service for Carol M. Wigen was held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Lee Laavag officiated.

Interment was in Silver Lake Cemetery, Ayrshire. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Carol Marie Wigen, 82, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, Aug. 2, 2019 at Ava's Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD. She was surrounded by her loving husband Leo and her family.

Carol was born in Ayrshire on May 7, 1937 to Gladys and Lee Henely. She was married to Leo Wigen, July 30, 1955 and they had just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary which is a testament to their love and support of each other.

Carol enjoyed quilting, doing various crafts, collecting dolls and books, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Leo both learned to fly and annually attended the EAA convention in Osh Kosh, WI for the past 50 years. Carol and Leo also enjoyed traveling around in their RV visiting relatives and friends and making great memories together.

She is survived by her husband, Leo; three children, Sherrie Wigen Dorsey of Largo, FL, Roy Wigen (Monica) of McAllen, TX and Larry Wigen (Tracy) of Spencer; six grandchildren, Skyler Wigen (Katie), Danielle Shaughnessy (Phil), Jessica Dirks (Derek), Titan Coleman, Matthew Wigen, Amy Moser (Brandon); 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol is also survived by seven of her 18 brothers and sisters, Bernard Henely (Sharon), Linda Larson (Rick), Devona Trimble, Debbie Theesfeld, Joe Henely, Virginia Origer (Harry) and David Henely (Kathy).

She was preceded in death by her parents , Gladys and Lee Henely; brothers, Kenneth, Donald, Dale, Ray, John, Paul and Perry; sisters, Dianne, Marilyn and Jean.
