Winning Week and Tourney Triumph for Lady E-Hawks

The Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawks would pick up two Twin Lakes Conference wins last week with a 3-1 victory over the Sioux Central Rebels on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and a 3-0 win against the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire (GTRA) Titans on Thursday, Oct. 3, and triumph in a tournament sweep at Estherville Lincoln Central on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

The Lady E-Hawks would beat the Rebels 3-1, with match scores of 27-25, 25-12, 23-25, and 26-24.

Molly Schany would make 54 attacks, with 23 kills, eight digs, and three solo blocks. Schany would also connect with 12 out of 14 serves, with three aces on the night.

Abbie Schany would have 48 attacks, 18 kills and 11 digs during the match.

Morgan Jamison had 22 attacks and ten kills, digging out a shot and assisting on a block.

Raegan Swanson completed 23 out of 25 successful serves and seven aces, and racked up nine attacks, two kills, and 17 digs.

Gretchen Hofstad connected 20 of 22 serves and had two aces, four attacks, three kills, nine digs, and 48 assists on the night.

Savannah Wolff served a perfect 16 for 16 and had two aces and 15 digs while Heidi Malm served a perfect 14 for 14 with two aces, five digs, and an attack.

Lindsay Carter served 8 of 9 while digging out one shot and Macy McAllister completed ten attacks, five kills, and six assists for the team.

GTRA Titans

Thursday, Oct. 3

The Lady E-Hawk netters dominated the Titans, winning 3-0 with scores of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-23.

Abbie Schany would make 32 attacks, with 12 kills and four digs on the evening.

Molly Schany had 24 attacks, 11 kills, and five digs, connecting on 4 of 6 serves with one ace.

Wolff would connect on 18 of 19 serves and had one ace, one attack, and five digs.

Hofstad served a perfect 17 for 17 and had two aces. Hofstad also made 29 assists, four attacks, two digs, and a kill.

Malm was also perfect on serves for the night, connecting nine for nine and digging out one shot.

Swanson served 8 of 10 and two aces, with eight attacks, seven digs, a kill and a solo block.

Carter went 10 of 11 on serves for the night and had one ace while Jamison had nine attacks and five kills and McAllister added ten attacks, five kills, two assists and a dig on the night.

ELC Tournament

Saturday, Oct. 5

The Lady E-Hawks would open tournament play with a 2-0 victory over ELC, 21-19 and 21-11.

For both sets, Molly Schany would have 22 attacks, 13 kills and four digs, connecting on six of seven serves with an ace.

Swanson would serve seven of nine with two aces and have four attacks, two kills, and a dig.

Hofstad and Wolff would each serve a perfect eight for eight, with Hofstad hitting two aces and making seven digs and two attacks while Wolff had an ace and four digs.

Malm was also perfect against ELC, serving four of four and making three digs, while Carter served four of five during both sets.

Abbie Schany would make nine attacks, three kills, and three digs, while McAllister had eight attacks, five kills, and a dig and Brielle Madden made six attacks, two kills, and two digs.

In their second match of the tournament, the Lady E-Hawks would beat Okoboji in both sets, 21-11 and 21-10.

Molly Schany would make 21 attacks, 12 kills, three digs, and two solo blocks, and have one serve while Abbie Schany would have 12 attacks, four kills, and three digs.

Hofstad would again be perfect on serves, going 13 for 13 with two aces. She also had 15 assists with six attacks and a dig.

Carter was also perfect on serves against Okoboji, nailing eight of eight with two aces and digging out two shots.

Malm made seven of eight serves and one ace and had two digs, Swanson connected on five of seven serves and had four digs and three attacks, and Wolff served up a perfect three for three and had two digs.

McAllister had six attacks, two kills, and two assists, while Jamison made eight attacks and three digs and Becca Licht had two attacks and a kill.

Baylee Lundgren served up one for one for the Lady E-Hawks.

Harris-Lake Park proved a tougher matchup, though the Lady E-Hawks won handily, 21-16 and 21-17.

The contest saw Molly Schany make 20 attacks and 11 kills, dig out three shots and have one assist, and connect with one of two serves.

Swanson made eight of ten serves and two aces and had two attacks, two digs, and a kill while Hofstad served eight of ten with one ace and had thirteen assists and three digs.

Malm served up a perfect eight for eight with two aces and made two digs during both sets.

Abbie Schany and McAllister each had eight attacks and two kills, with Schany digging out four shots and McAllister making four assists.

Wolff would serve a perfect four for four and have two digs and Carter would serve four of six with two digs.

Lundgren served one for one while Jamison had eight attacks and three kills.

The Lady E-Hawks next battled Sioux City West, winning 21-18 and 21-12.

Molly Schany would have 27 attacks, 15 kills, two digs, and an assist, and serve a perfect three for three while Swanson served 12 for 13 with four aces, four digs, and two assists.

Carter went a perfect 10 for 10 in serves, hitting an ace and three digs and Hofstad was eight for eight with two aces, 17 assists, six digs, and two block assists.

Wolf again served perfectly, going five for five and digging out one shot while Abbie Schany would make eight attacks, three kills, two assists, and a dig.

Jamison made 11 attacks, four kills, two block assists, and a dig and McAllister had six attacks, two kills, two assists, and a dig.

The final matchup against GTRA saw the E-Hawks again dominate the Titans, winning 21-10 and 21-9.

Molly Schany would make 14 attacks, eight kills, three solo blocks, and two digs, and serve two for two, while Abbie Schany had 11 attacks, four kills, and two digs.

Hofstad and Swanson would each serve nine of ten, with Swanson having three aces, two kills, and five digs and Hofstad racking up 17 assists and two kills.

Wolf would serve perfectly, hitting seven for seven with three attacks and two digs and Malm served a perfect four for four with two attacks and a dig.

Carter connected with three of four serves and had one dig and Jamison went three for three on serves with three attacks, two kills, a solo block and a dig.

Brielle Maddon would have four attacks and three kills while McAllister would make four attacks and two digs against the Titans.

Saturday's tournament win, along with the wins against the Rebels and Titans last week, bring the Lady E-Hawks to 15-8 overall and 10-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The netters face Storm Lake at home for Senior Night on Thursday, Oct. 10.
