KINGSLEY - The Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard (WBM) struggled against the rushing attack of the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers in a 32-14 road loss last Friday night.

The Panthers would take an early lead, outscoring the Wolverines 24-0 in the first half until, with two seconds left on the clock, quarterback Cole Thilges would find an open Mike Auten in the end zone for an eight yard pass. Thilges would carry in the two-point conversion for the Wolverines to head into the locker room at halftime with a 24-8 on the score board.

The Wolverine defense would take the field in the second half and hold the line of scrimmage, allowing only eight Panther points for the duration of the contest. However, penalties and ball mishandling would haunt the WBM offense as they struggled to find their footing in the second half, remaining scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Thilges passed for 120 yards and rushed for 110 yards against the Panthers.

Auten and Jared Schmidt each had five catches for 43 yards, with Schmidt rushing for 35 yards on eight carries.

The loss brings the Wolverines to 1-2 in eight-man district play, 2-5 overall on the season, as they prepare to battle the undefeated Hawks of Remsen-St. Mary's on Friday, Oct. 11.
